Ratatouille

I guess its ok to post now. Especially because we have moved. Ashley and I have been planning to move from East Garfield Park to North Lawndale for quite some time. I am preparing to switch ministry positions... more about that in another post, but it is a very exciting situation. We were planning on moving in May.

Well, we moved last week. (By the way, we love our new house, pictures and blogs to come). There were a number of reasons we moved: flooding, pipe bursts, poor heating. However, one of the things that put us over the edge was rats.

Ashley and I recently watched the movie "Ratatouille", it was very cute, "Hey, Little Chef". However, there was absolutely nothing cute about the three furry friends that we caught. Ill put a picture here to show you.

Yes, I know pretty freeky. Ashley and I now feel initiated, and will have stories to tell for years.

Well, lets not glorify the past, just wanted to share the picture with you : )

Do any of you have rodent stories. Misery loves company!!

WOW. That picture raised a multitude of questions in me. here are some of the most pressing:
1. Are you sure that is not a neighborhood cat? WOW.
2. Was that rat in the new place (house) or the old place which I think was an apartment? If it was in the apt. did it have its own room?
3. It appears to be hanging from its paw?
4. Why do you look so happy having that thing dangling from like 3 inches from your face?
5. Were you scared?
6. What about compassion for all of God's creatures :) :) :) ?

And yay congratulations on moving! How the new neighborhood? blog about that.
And I cant wait to hear about the new ministry position. I could probaly email you rather than waiting for another blog installment. :)

Congratulations to you and Ashley!

1. Yeah its about the size of a puppy

2. It was in the old apartment. One of the reason why we moved.

3. It's hanging by its neck

4. Its more awkaward smiling at how rediculously big it is.

5. I was freaked out. Ashley was too, she took the picture

6. I think rats are from the fall, I don't know, there is something not ok with being able to chew through walls.

Sarah, you're an absolute riot!

And if my Nana reads this, then I know seeing that probably causes you deep pain. But don't worry Nana, that's why we moved. We moved immediately after we found out they were there. So no worries, okay, I love you!

Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

Oh, do I have a rodent story! :) The year I turned 21, I was living in a town house in Philly (going to Temple while still at Messiah). My 21st birthday had been a little warm so we'd turned the heat down. Well, a little mouse decided to come up the heat vents and get into our suite. Actually, though I never saw it. But my roommate Melissa decided to play a trick on me.... She had a small stuffed mouse that she put in her shoe and than pretended to be scared/freak out when she went to put it on. Honestly, she was screaming and acting like the mouse was crawling up her belly. I bolted for the door and yelled, "Oh, sh*t!"

I was quite embarrassed when I found out it was fake. :) Later on that week, I came home to find a chocolate mouse on my desk that my roommates had so thoughtfully purchased for me. ;)
